The pretérito tense in Spanish is used to describe past actions, actions with an specified beginning or end. This conjugation is most similar to the past tense we commonly use in English. For example, I cooked dinner today// Yo cociné la cena hoy

To do so, take out the “ar/er/ir” and replace with the following conjugations:

AR verbs are conjugated as, -é, -aste, -ó, -amos, -aron.

IR/ER verbs are conjugated as, -í, -iste, -ió, -imos, -ieron
