Imperfect Past Tense

The imperfect tense in Spanish is used to describe ongoing and repeated past actions, actions with an unspecified beginning or end, or provides the background of a past action. For example, I played with my cousin when I was young// Yo jugaba con mi primo cuando era niña.

To do so, take out the “ar” and replace with the following conjugations:

Usually conjugated as, -aba, -abas, -aba, -abamos, -aban.

IR/ER verbs are conjugated as, -ía, -ías, -ía, -íbamos, -ían
